Wordsnova is a word puzzle game. Each puzzle gives you a hidden word to guess. Type a word and submit it — the tiles change color to show you which letters are correct (green), in the wrong position (yellow), or not in the word (grey). Use the clues to figure out the target word in as few guesses as possible.
How many guesses do I get?
In Classic mode, you get 6 guesses to find the hidden word. Other modes have their own rules — Speed Blitz is unlimited guesses against the clock, and Anagram mode has no guess limit since you're rearranging letters.
What do the tile colors mean?
Green — the letter is correct and in the right position. Yellow — the letter is in the word but in the wrong position. Grey — the letter is not in the word at all. Use these clues strategically to narrow down the answer.
Can I use proper nouns or abbreviations?
No — Wordsnova uses a curated dictionary of common English words. Proper nouns, abbreviations, and acronyms are not valid guesses or answers. This keeps the game fair and accessible to all players.
How are the daily puzzle words chosen?
Daily puzzles are carefully curated from a hand-selected word list. We ensure words are fair, common enough to be guessable, and interesting enough to be rewarding. Puzzle #1 started on launch day — every player worldwide gets the same word each day.
What game modes are available?
Wordsnova has four modes: Classic Puzzle (guess in 6 tries), Speed Blitz (solve as many words as possible in 60 seconds), Anagram Battle (unscramble a jumbled word), and Vocab Master (puzzle with definitions and etymology to learn new words).
Does each mode have its own daily challenge?
Yes! Each mode has its own daily challenge that resets at midnight in your local time zone. You can also play unlimited practice rounds in each mode through the Free Play section — no daily limit on practice puzzles.
How does Speed Blitz mode work?
In Speed Blitz, you have 60 seconds to solve as many words as possible. Each correct answer gives you a new word immediately. Your score is the total number of words solved. You can use AI hints, but each hint costs 5 seconds off your timer.
What is Vocab Master mode?
Vocab Master works like Classic mode, but after you solve (or fail) the puzzle, the app shows you the word's definition, origin, and example sentence. It's designed to genuinely expand your vocabulary — not just test it.
Tap the AI hint button during a puzzle to receive a contextual clue about the word — for example, its category, meaning, or a usage hint. The AI won't just tell you the letters; it helps you think about the word differently. Hints are pre-computed and work fully offline.
How many hints do I get per day?
Free players receive 3 AI hints per day across all modes. Premium subscribers get unlimited hints. Your daily hint allowance resets at midnight local time.
Does using a hint affect my stats?
Using a hint is noted in your puzzle history but does not disqualify your win or break your streak. Your stats clearly show which puzzles were solved with hints so you can track your improvement over time.
Do hints require internet?
No — all hints are pre-computed and bundled with the app. They work completely offline. No data is sent to any server when you request a hint.
Does Wordsnova work offline?
Yes — Wordsnova is fully playable offline. All puzzles, game modes, and AI hints are bundled with the app. Play on a plane, in the subway, or anywhere without internet. New daily challenges download automatically when you reconnect.
Will I miss daily challenges if I'm offline?
Daily challenges are pre-loaded into the app so you can play them without internet. If you've been offline for multiple days, reconnect to download any new puzzles. Your streak is protected for up to 24 hours of offline play.
Is my progress backed up?
Your progress is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled in your iOS Settings, your Wordsnova data will be included in your iPhone backup. You can restore from this backup to a new device. We don't operate our own cloud save servers.
How does the daily streak work?
Your streak increases by 1 each day you complete at least one daily challenge in Classic mode. If you miss a day (midnight to midnight in your local time), your streak resets to 0. Complete a puzzle every day to keep building it.
Does losing a puzzle break my streak?
No — your streak is based on whether you played the daily challenge, not whether you won it. Even if you use all 6 guesses without finding the word, your streak is maintained as long as you played that day's puzzle.
What stats does Wordsnova track?
Wordsnova tracks: total puzzles played, win rate, current streak, longest streak, average number of guesses, guess distribution (1–6 guesses), words solved with/without hints, and mode-specific stats for Speed Blitz and Anagram.
Can I see my full puzzle history?
Yes — tap the Stats icon in the app to view your complete puzzle history, including the word for each day, your guesses, and whether you used a hint. Premium subscribers get access to detailed historical breakdowns.
Do I need an account to play?
No account is required. Download the app and start playing immediately — no sign-up, no email, no password. Your progress is stored locally on your device.
To reset your game data, go to Settings → Reset Progress within the app. To delete all data entirely, simply uninstall Wordsnova from your iPhone. Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling permanently removes everything.
How do I restore my premium purchase?
Go to Settings → Restore Purchases in the app and tap "Restore." Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. Restoration is handled through Apple's App Store and is instant once verified.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple. To cancel: go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Wordsnova → Cancel Subscription. You'll retain premium access until the end of your current billing period.
The app crashed or won't open. What do I do?
First, force-close the app and reopen it. If that doesn't help, restart your iPhone. If the issue persists, delete and reinstall the app from the App Store (your daily puzzle progress may be lost unless you have an iCloud backup). Please report the crash to

My streak disappeared. Can it be restored?
Streaks are stored locally on your device. If you deleted and reinstalled the app without an iCloud backup, or if your device data was wiped, the streak data is lost and cannot be recovered from our end. We don't store your streak on servers. Contact us with details and we'll do our best to help.
The daily puzzle isn't loading. What should I do?
Daily puzzles are pre-loaded so they should work offline. Try: (1) force-closing and reopening the app, (2) checking your device date/time settings are set to "automatic," (3) briefly connecting to internet to sync the latest puzzle list, (4) restarting your device. If the issue continues, email us.
My keyboard isn't working in the app.
Wordsnova uses a built-in on-screen keyboard rather than the system keyboard to ensure consistent gameplay. If tiles aren't responding, try force-closing and reopening the app. If you're using an external keyboard, the on-screen keyboard is still required for gameplay.
